waste Potato head New household goods series 001 designed with British innovators has been unveiled Max Lamb. This debut capsule transforms local waste into functional art, combining the “good times, good” spirit of potato head with the experimental, process-driven approach of the lamb. Handcrafted in Bali by skilled local artisans, the collection adopts Indonesia’s rich craft heritage while supporting the island’s ambitious 99.5% landfill transfer rate.

Spreading eight family of materials – from recycled HDPE plastics and natural dyes extracted from the Compost Botanical Garden to retired hotel linens, mouthpiece glass, second-hand cooking oils, salvaged ceramics, brewer shell shell composites and hand-woven Balinese bamboo – range of rays wasted as creative resources. Using techniques of marigold and indigo dyeing, ceramic glass, plastic casting, traditional weaving and glass blowing, reveals the inherent texture and color of the recycled materials. The result is a set of objects, ranging from marble plastic chairs and refilled candles to bamboo lounge seats and hand-shaped ceramic containers, which are both practical and poetic.

Rooted by years of internal research and community waste projects across the island, Collection 001 embodies a closed-loop design system that redefines the value of substances and its source. Each piece is unique, emphasizing the importance of local, process and human craftsmanship. As Max Lamb points out, “It is the responsibility of designers to justify every product we bring into the world.” Through a wasteful scalable, place-based approach, potato heads provide replicable blueprints for circular creativity and conscious life.
