
Waymo expands its robotaxi -service area by another 80 square miles in Los -Angeles, the San Francisco Bay, and Silicon Valley, the company announced on Tuesday.
The Waymo commercial service area now covers more than 250 square miles across California, pushing the drivers Jaguar I-Pace vehicles into new pockets of three popular subway areas. The expansion comes a little over a week after several Waymo robotaxis was burned and vandalized During protests in Los -English on the immigration attacks of the Trump administration.
The discarded Waymo Robotaxis – images that became emblematic of those protests – prompted the company to withdraw service in Los -English. Friday the company took further steps and Limited service nationwide in preparation of widespread protests on immigration policies.
A spokesman for Waymo Chris Bonelli said the company is constantly evaluating and adjusting its operations based on traffic conditions, special events and local guidance. He confirmed that the company is still temporarily limiting the WayMo service in parts of Los -English, including downtown, and said it would monitor the development situation and accelerate service soon.
These incidents do not seem to slow down the push of the alphabet company into new markets. (New the areas appear in light blue.)

Waymo said that starting on Tuesday its service will now be available to riders in the communities of San Francisco Bisbane, South SF, San Bruno, Millbrae, and Burlingame, as well as the cities of Silicon Valley of Palo Alto and Menlo Park.
Waymo said it would expand its service area, starting Wednesday, in the vicinity of Playa del Rey, Ladera Heights, Echo Park, Silver Lake, and the whole of Sunset Boulevard. Riders will now be able to travel from the Middle City to Inglewood and Westchester through the Cienega and the Brea, according to Waymo, which says it now serves more than 120 square miles from the County of the County.
The growth of the company-concerned weekly paid trips through San Francisco, the, Phoenix and Austin has increased five times since June 2024. Today, Waymo serves more than a quarter of a million paid trips a week through those four markets. Waymo’s trading fleet includes over 400 vehicles in the and more than 600 in the San Francisco Bay area.
