In recent weeks, President and writer of DC Studios and Director of SupermanJames Gunn, pushed that he wrote a new DC movie that features Superman but is not Superman sequel. Most minds immediately jump to something like World’s endWho could work with a new Batman with Superman, but that’s just guess. Gunn confirmed nothing. Then, on Thursday morning, Variety reported that Warner Bros. Director General Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, said of income that Gunn would write and direct “the next delivery in the superfamily.”
This is a plot claim with various possible implications, but, before speculating, most fans know that the move is to check that of James Gunn Threads. There he likes to confirm, deny and explain some rumors, and, as an edition, Gunn did so … ia. In response to a fan asking if he is, “preparation for the next delivery in the superfamily,” the always saved Gunn focused on that first part of the question, Answering“I’m actually getting ready and writing well.” Who, again, we knew.
What Gunn did not dispute, however, was the phrase “superfamily”, and this is the great indication here. What does that mean exactly? Two cousins and a dog certainly qualify as a “super family.” And if they had to work together, the adventure could carry them almost anywhere across the DC universe. That would be exciting.
However, we also have to look at the messenger. It was David Zaslav, who said “superfamily”, not someone with a deep knowledge of comics. There is every possibility in the world a commercial CEO saying that this only means something like “the next in the family of Superman movies. “Or even the family of” overHero movies. “It is a phrase readable as very specific or very vague, depending on point of view.
Gunn, according to his credit, suggested that we would learn what he wrote and then direct earlier than later. And, if we were to bet on it, we think it probably features Supergirl and Krypto along with Superman. We just still don’t know for sure.
