You get 5 GB from OneDrive Cloud Storage Space for free with Microsoft account, and if you cancel your subscription, you go back. According to MicrosoftAs long as you exceed that limit and do not pay, you will not be able to sync new files. Existing files will remain, but in a readable state. You will also not be able to send or receive emails on Outlook.com, or team messages with attachments.
Microsoft gives you six months to decide what to do with the files in your OneDrive account, after what It “maybe” (is that word again) decides to delete the files you have on Microsoft’s servers. After they are removed, Microsoft warns, they are gone forever. If you need these files, you need to download them and move them elsewhere (the customers OneDrive for Windows and MacOS can help here).
Unlike Google, Microsoft deals with its cloud storage and email storage services separately. You get 15 GB of cloud space with Outlook for free, and 100 GB of space if you pay $ 1.99 a month (on top of the other 100 GB). You cannot send or receive an email if you exceed your limit, so you will need to clean your inbox to start using it again.
Dropbox
We cannot cover every single cloud storage service in this article, but here is one more: Dropbox. Dropbox users get 2 GB of storage in the cloud for free, and then the paid plans start at $ 9.99 a month for 2 tb of space.
If you store more than 2 GB of files on your Dropbox, and then stop paying, nothing happens To those files: they will only stay as they are, in the cloud and in your synchronized devices. However, you will not be able to add new files, and any changes you make on the spot to files will not be synchronized to the cloud.
There is also no ending date – they will remain as they are constantly. Presumably Dropbox wants to encourage users to register for another paid plan somewhere in the line, at which time you can pick up where you left.
You can use the Dropbox clients for Windows and MacOS to synchronize files from the cloud to your computers, and from there to other places and backup services. After files are removed or deleted from your Dropbox folder on your computer, they will also be deleted from the cloud.
