WWE’s Raquel Rodriguez talks about evolution, wrestling inspiration and more

Rodriguez told Fox News Digital what Evolution means to her when she first saw the Premium Live event in 2018.

“It was a very exciting time for all the women in WWE, all the women who just invested in wrestling around the world,” she said. “We only have one evolution, and I remember that was in 2018, I was training at the Performance Center and I bit my nails because I just wanted to be a part of it so bad. But it was a beautiful representation of women with wrestling, women in sports and women from cultures from around the world.

“So, to know that we can have Evolution 2 of Women and have more women and our future to represent, I think it will be an absolutely amazing show. I can’t wait to see all the women, little girls, little girls and abuelitas and tias and Tias all cheer on us and I’ll be very happy to win a team. Change.”

For Rodriguez, professional wrestling is in her blood. Her father, Rick, was an independent wrestler in Texas in the 1980s and 1990s, and she would watch him play.

“I don’t just have someone who looks up to and wants to emulate, I mean I look up to many people. I’m a dad girl and I say he really made a lot of decisions for me, I made a lot of decisions in my life, and I wouldn’t have been here if it weren’t for him, and the sacrifices he made. Looking at him and his work in wrestling was obviously talking about me since I was a kid because I was thinking about him, but he kept trying. I was very, very lucky to have so many people, I think so many role models.”

Rodriguez is a six-time women’s champion, four of which are Liv Morgan. But Morgan was occupied by a shoulder injury and Perez stepped into her position – at least for the time being.

Rodriguez said that although she never actually works with each other in the official match, she is confident in the world and they will successfully defend their titles.
