XRobotics’ countertop robots are cooking up 25,000 pizzas a month


Xrobotics Thinks it cracked the code on getting pizza restaurants to adopt robotics.

The San Francisco Robotic Company built a Countertop robot called Xpizza Cube, which is about the size of a stacking machine, and uses machine learning to apply sauce, cheese and pepper to Pizza pasta. The machines that rent for $ 1,300 a month for three years can make up to 100 pizzas hour and be redesigned to work with cakes of various sizes and styles such as Detroit and Chicago Deep Dish.

“This saves like almost 70, sometimes 80% of the time for staff,” Denis Rodionov, the co -founder and general manager of Xrobotics, told Techcrunch. “It’s just a repeatable job. If you have a pipe of pepper, you have to put 50 slices of pepper one after the other.”

Xrobotics is not the only company that has tried to introduce robotics into the restaurant industry – nor the only one focused on pizza.

Zume is the most notable Pizza Robotics Company – if this can be considered its own category. The company raised over $ 420 million in risky capital for its robotic pizza trucks, before pivotal focusing on sustainable package in 2020, and close in 2023.

Rodionov argues that they have succeeded, where other companies do not have because they do not try to fully transform the manufacturing process, as it was buzzed, but rather to build technology to help existing manufacturers of pizzas save time and work.

As they build auxiliary technology, unlike replacement Te Techniko, Robinov said they could keep their device small enough to fit in existing kitchens and with a price at a level that Pizzeria goes from mom and pop -ups to large chains, both the company counts as customers.

The company learned this difficult path. The company was launched in 2019 and introduced the First version of the technology in 2021. Xrobotics’ first robot was significantly larger, and was able to work with over 20 covers, and had the same problems as their competitors.

“We made a real pilot in the restaurant with our huge machine,” Rodionov said. “We learned a lot about it, and we learned that we need a very small, compact solution. It was a bit scary. All the numbers, all the feelings, the whole intestine said you should do this, not this. And we just followed the intestine and said, “Yes, we would go and make a smaller version,” and it was a huge success. ”

Xrobotics launched its current model in 2023. The company refused to share how many customers it has. The company said its robots produce 25,000 pizzas a month, but how many customers who translate is difficult to calculate.

The launch also recently raised $ 2.5 million seeds led by Finsight Ventures with SOSV participation, Mana Ventures and Republic Capital. Rodionov said the company would use the capital to produce more units and install more robots for customers.

Xrobotics is committed to the Pizza industry, at least for now, Rodionov said, considering the huge size of the market – is more than 73,000 pizza chains in the United States alone. The company plans to expand to Mexico and Canada later.

“I also love pizza, my co -founder,” Rodionov said. “We have tested any pizza in San Francisco. We also test pizza in New York and Chicago.” Rodionov added that Detroit-style pizza, known for his square shape and crisp cheese crust, is his favorite.
