YouTube comes up with new operations operations to help users find content and information more easily, the company announced Thursday. The platform launches AI-powered search result carousel similar to Google’s AI overlap and also tests a conversational AI with more users.
The new AI-driven search results, available only for YouTube Premium users in the United States, will suggest videos and show short AI-generated theme descriptions to help users find what they are looking for faster.
YouTube says the AI-powered search results, carousel will appear in searches related to shopping, places or to do at a specific location. For example, if you are looking for something like “best beaches in Hawaii”, you will see an AI-generated carousel featuring clips from videos showing the best snorkeling spots and volcanic beaches, along with descriptions and more videos to help you plan your vacation.

The new feature is quite similar to Ai -overlap glimpses from GoogleThe tool that provides AI-generated summaries of search results at the top of the Google Search Results page. While the AI-driven search results Carousel will facilitate discovery for users, it could be an inconvenient change for creators, as they rely on commitment to earn revenue on the platform.
For example, if a person is able to get the information they need directly from the carousel of AI-powered search results, they may not feel the need to click on the video.
The launch of the AI-powered search results carousel comes two weeks after a Wall Street Journal A report has revealed that the AI overlaps of Google and other AI-driven tools are devastating traffic for news publishers. YouTube creators may be concerned that the new carousel function could reduce engagement with their videos, as well as AI -overlap on Google search have caused fewer references to news sites.
Regarding the AI Chat tool of YouTube, the Google-owned platform has announced that it provides it to some non-pressure users. First launched at the end of 2023The conversation tool uses AI to help user receive more information, content recommendations and summaries of videos. It can also be used to question you on key concepts in academic videos.

At launch, YouTube explained that the tools of the tool are generated by large language models that are based on YouTube information and the site. The answers are designed to help viewers dive deeper into the content they watch.
For example, if you watch a wheelchair tutorial, the AI conversation will ask if you want it to “summarize the video” or “recommends related content.” You can also ask your own questions, such as “What’s the song in this video?” And the tool will give details such as the song title, artist, genre and more.
