Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, credited AI with a drive from the time when users spent in the company’s programs in the second quarter. While consumers are becoming more and more complained about the prevalence of “ai-slope”-or low-quality AI-generated content flooding social programs-Meta says that AI systems improve help users connect with recommended content.
“AI significantly improves our ability to show people’s content that they will find interesting and useful,” Zuckerberg told investors about the Q2 Calling gains. “Advances in our recommended systems have improved quality so much that it caused a 5% increase in time on Facebook and 6% on Instagram exactly this -quarter.”
In total, Meta estimated that more than 3.4 billion people used one of its “programs” – meaning Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and/or WhatsApp – daily in June. This figure rises 6% a year after a year and has helped drive the entire family from income from programs to $ 47.1 billion, more than 22% a year after a year.
The company additionally shared that video time spent increased 20% per year after a year in the fourth, also due to optimizations of Meta’s rankings and its work to promote more original content on Instagram.
Meta’s X competitor, Threads, also saw time spent gain due to the “sign of LLMs,” Meta noted.
