Young people are driving the rise of Catholicism Gen ZWhen they turn to faith as an answer to loneliness, cultural drift and seeking goals.
A Harvard study showed that between 2022 and 2023, Zers identified as Catholics rose by 6%, a shift that was the president of Michael Tidd’s father, Del Patton School, a Catholic school for Benedictine young men in grades 7- to 7 in Morristown, New Jersey, who said he had witnessed himself.
He shared with Fox and Friends on Thursday: “We show students what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ. We suggest we don’t impose, they come to us, and that seems to resonate with them.”

Del Patton’s students come from a variety of backgrounds – some from practice Catholic families, some from non-Catholic families – but all have the meaning of being a Catholic Christian in the theological classroom and serving the world in the world.

He added: “This is one of the benefits of getting into a Catholic school, we have that structure, if students want to take advantage, especially in the classroom, but on a sports team or extracurricular activities – when you form these tight bonds, then you can start asking these deep questions.”
