Mexican Design Studio Mestiz Having revealed a compelling “handmade” guesthouse in San Miguel de Allende, he fulfilled the vision of founder Daniel Valero to create every detail of the spaces such as walls, doors, furniture, tableware, textiles, textiles, lamps, ceramic tiles, and more.
The one-bedroom hotel drowns the saturated tones and traditional handicrafts of craftsmen across the country, capturing the vibrant nature of Mexican culture.
The resulting design challenges modernist austerity policies, as well as the neutrality of contemporary residential spaces with organic materials and bold color choices, including magenta, sky blue, Kelly green and bright red. The smooth sky blue floor and matching walls contrast sharply with the warm wooden ceiling, while the red boat board headboard is accented wall. The scallop details above the bed are woven throughout the space on red bed frames, green sideboards and various pieces of wooden furniture.
The woodworkers of San Miguel de Allende, carving, coloring, rotating and gathering furniture by hand, have rooted in the traditional spaces of woodworking in the area. Excellent case merchandise includes a green tavern table covered with thorns and fanned around the top. Textured red side table carved into a flower-like shape.
Through the tones of high saturation, earthy tones take root in the natural beauty of Mexican terrain. Mestiz’s smooth brown tiles cover the mantle and en suite bathroom, while tan wickers are a medium for armchairs and pedaling table benches.
